About

Christophe Capewell is a composer, recording artist, producer, session musician and actor born in Sheffield and now living in county Dublin. He gained his BA Hons degree in Music and French from Durham University in 2002, specialising in Breton folk music. He has written music for radio, film, circus and theatre and has to date worked on almost 100 albums. After the brief success of folktronica band Spool (Irish Times album of the week, Dec 06), he became one of the founding members of travelling folk collective The Rubber Wellies, described by BBC 2’s Mike Harding as “One of my favourite bands in recent years”. He recorded and toured with Lisa O’Neill for almost a decade (The Guardian’s 2019 Folk Album of the Year) and currently collaborates with a number of other artists. An album of self-penned compositions is due to be released this year, partly funded by the Irish Arts Council.
